About High Flight Aftercare

High Flight Aftercare was created by Captain Tim Gaither, LPC, ATP, to help pilots navigate the HIMS process in order to obtain and maintain their FAA medical certification.

Our mission is to support long-term recovery, psychological wellness, regulatory compliance, and meaningful peer connection among aviators navigating the HIMS process and return-to-duty pathways.

High Flight Aftercare groups are co-facilitated by Brian Hides, LPC, and Kate Pennypacker, LCSW, CADC, both experienced clinicians with extensive backgrounds in substance use disorder treatment and recovery-focused behavioral health care. In addition to their clinical expertise, they have received specialized training in the HIMS program, FAA aeromedical considerations, and the unique occupational demands of professional pilots.

Together, our clinical team combines aviation experience, behavioral health expertise, and a thorough understanding of the HIMS process to provide aftercare services that are clinically rigorous, professionally relevant, and responsive to the needs of pilots committed to recovery and continued medical certification.
